Cautiously Optimistic
Two words I found myself saying countless times over the 10+ years I watched my daughter struggle with her drug addiction. She didn’t set out to be a drug addict. No one does. In fact, I am sure that when Career Day happened in school, “Drug Addict” was no child’s aspiration. Yet, according to a 2023 US National Survey on Drug Use and Health, almost 17% of our population aged 12 and older have battled some type of substance disorder.
What About Us, Parents?
We didn’t opt-in for this lifestyle either. But when our child struggles – no matter their age – we struggle too
Finding Comfort in the Struggle
Yet, even in the most desperate of circumstances, there is comfort. We can survive and thrive in this life we have been given. I know this because I have lived it and I want to offer that same comfort to you as I live out the words found in 2 Corinthians 1:3-5:
- Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort who comforts us in all our affliction so that we will be able to comfort those who are in any affliction with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. For just as the sufferings of Christ are ours in abundance, so also our comfort is abundant through Christ (NASB).
A Message for You
